ATIXA has launched and updated its popular web-based sexual misconduct training series, 20 Minutes To… Trained, for all hearing-related training requirements for Title IX and VAWA Section 304. Conrad O’Brien’s Title IX, Due Process & Campus Discipline Chair Patricia Hamill and Vice-Chair Lorie Dakessian lead a video training on “Advising the Responding Party.” Their video is one of fourteen videos released for hearing administrators, panels, and appeals officers.
Patricia and Lorie have represented more than 100 college students who have been accused of various Title IX violations on their colleges and professors nationwide who are subjected to campus disciplinary proceedings or who have been disciplined by their colleges for alleged sexual misconduct following such proceedings. In the training video, the practice chairs discuss how to advise responding students, both as external and internal advisors.
Each 20-Minutes-to…Trained module averages 20 minutes in length. According to ATIXA, the training videos can be used either by an individual user to facilitate their own learning about the topic or can be used by a facilitator to guide a group training for an entire hearing panel. This gives trainees the ability to plan modular trainings based on the topics they want to prioritize, or to allow trainees to take all 27 topics over time, but in bite-size chunks of easily attained and retained information.
